Walking on Dartmoor

The Dartmoor National Park has some of the best walking in Britain. Whether you want a hike on the windswept high moor, or a more gentle stroll along the Devon lanes there is something for every age and level of ability. All you need is a map some walking boots – or wellies!

If you don’t feel like exploring and finding your own way round, there are guided walks available run either by the Dartmoor National Park or by the Tourist Information Centre in Moretonhampstead.

If you want to walk closer to the pub you can download a booklet of walks from the Ring of Bells here.

We are open all day for lunch, snacks and refreshments in the garden in the summer, or warm up by the fire in the chillier months.

Mountain & Road Biking

The Dartmoor National Park has some of the best, accessible, cycling in the country. Dartmoor’s topography makes for a spectacular backdrop as well as a challenging terrain to test your cycling skills and fitness.

If mountain biking is your thing we have a revered course that starts from right out side our drive. The Dartmoor Killer Loop you can tell by the name is not for the faint hearted. The route is at times remote and takes in open moor and woodland scenes throwing everything Dartmoor has to offer to the intrepid rider.
